8th Grade -4th Block - NYC 3D Graphs Project Options and Directions

In the Museum on Ellis Island there is a collection of 3-dimensional graphs that show statistics about the immigrants who came through this building in New York harbor to enter the United States.  If you are going to New York this June you will be able to see these graphs for yourself.  For now, we will settle for pictures to give you an example of what you will be doing for the next two weeks of class.  (See pictures on data projector)

For the next two weeks, you will be working to create a 3-dimensional graph using one of the options from the attached page. Your graph must be at least 1 cubic foot in size but can be no larger than 27 cubic feet. You may build your graph out of any material you wish as long as it can be moved once it is completed. Your graph will be graded based on the rubric given in class.

BONUS **You will receive up to 30 points of extra credit if you research the same statistics for either Stokes County or Walnut Cove then design your graph in such a way that you can compare the NYC statistics with our local statistics.
