Did someone say there are only 18 more school days till Christmas break??????

Good! That's 15 more days I can cover probability with my 6th graders (they have a field trip one day and writing test another), 17 more days to cover data analysis with my 8th graders (they have a field trip one day too), and 18 glorious days (unless I find out they are going somewhere too) to cover Functions and Graphing with my 7th graders!! :)

Today in class....
6th: We covered Basic Experimental Probability and did an experiment ourselves rolling dice to see what the outcomes would be. We will talk more about and compare theoretical and experimental probability tomorrow. No HW.
7th: Today in class we did a practice sheet with writing function rules (equations that relate two variables) from real life situations. This is something that takes a lot of practice and thought, but most students did very well with it. We will talk about representing functions as tables tomorrow.
8th-2nd Block: Groups worked together to plan for peer teaching data analysis. Groups will begin teaching on the 5th.
8th - 4th Block: We took guided notes on "How can I be assured that data I use is collected fairly and is credible?" We discussed fair and biased questions and the importance of taking a random sample. Tomorrow we will discuss how to appropriately display data.
