6th: Today in 6th grade we did an application circle with adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. It's a little like musical chairs mixed with math homework....just ask, we'll explain you if want us to. Study for Quiz on Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Mixed Numbers for homework!!
7th: Today in class we reviewed properties of mathematics that we knew from last year and added the Transitive Property to our knowledge bank. We played a little game of "Ring Around the Classroom" for practice with properties. We will do more with the Distributive Property on Wednesday. No class tomorrow due to field trip.
8th- 2nd block: Today in class we reviewed multiplication of polynomials, then talked about how we can connect what we know about powers and exponents with what we know about multiplication of monomials to form a rule for raising monomials to powers. We then talked about how we can use our knowledge of multiplication and division being inverse operations to divide monomials. Since we know that to multiply monomials you add the exponents on the variables, it follows logically that to divide monomials you subtract those exponents! Students should complete EdHelper worksheet #1-16 for homework. We will have a quiz on multiplying and dividing polynomials on Wednesday.
8th-4th block: Today in class we did a mixed review of adding and subtracting polynomials. We will continue review tomorrow and will have a quiz on this topic Wednesday.
